BBioNets Showcases Innovation Potential at AVO Conference in Prague
BBioNets’ first Czech Info-Day was held on 23 April 2025 at the “Business with Innovations and AVO Members’ Meeting”, at the CIIRC CTU building in Prague. Organised by HUB-CR, it gathered approximately 49 participants from research institutions, industry, advisory services, and policy bodies and contributed to the broader dialogue on advancing Bio-Based Technologies (BBTs) in practice.
During the event, BBioNets highlighted its mission to bridge the gap between innovation and real-world application by strengthening collaboration between Operational Groups (OGs), farmers, advisors, and researchers. The discussion emphasised the important role of OGs as practical testing environments where innovative solutions can be adapted to local conditions and shared with end-users.

At the same time, participants addressed key challenges limiting the wider uptake of BBTs. These included the complexity and cost of implementation, regulatory requirements, and the often narrow, project-based scope of OGs, which can hinder long-term impact and broader dissemination. The need for stronger integration with advisory systems, improved knowledge transfer tools, and sustained support beyond project lifetimes was strongly underlined—core aspects that BBioNets aims to tackle.
A notable example presented was the Operational Group “TH-Compost_biochar” (ZERA), demonstrating successful circular nutrient management through composting and biochar. This case illustrated tangible benefits such as improved soil health and reduced input costs, showcasing how well-adapted bio-based solutions can deliver real value on the ground. Overall, the event reinforced the importance of coordinated networks, peer-to-peer learning, and demonstration activities in building trust and accelerating the adoption of bio-based innovations. It also strengthened awareness of BBioNets as a key initiative supporting knowledge exchange, collaboration, and the long-term impact of agricultural innovation.
