As BBioNets officially completes its three-year journey, the consortium marks the conclusion of an initiative dedicated to accelerating the adoption of Bio-Based Technologies (BBTs) across European rural regions.
Launched to bridge the gap between research and practical implementation on the ground, BBioNets leaves behind a lasting framework for circular bioeconomy practices. Through a collaborative, cross-border approach, the project has equipped primary producers, agricultural advisors, and regional stakeholders with actionable, open-access solutions tailored to their everyday needs.
Building a Lasting Foundation
At the core of the project’s success was the establishment of six regional multi-actor Forest and Agriculture Networks (FANs) in Ireland, Spain, Greece, Italy, Poland, and the Czech Republic. Bringing together nearly 150 member organisations with a strong majority representing farmers, foresters, and advisors, the FANs served as vital hubs for knowledge exchange, validating new concepts, and identifying local barriers to technology adoption.
To ensure these efforts extend beyond the project’s lifecycle, BBioNets has established a comprehensive suite of digital platforms and open-access resources:
A Community-Driven Legacy
BBioNets’ achievements were made possible through close collaboration with partner initiatives, EIP-AGRI Operational Groups, and the wider SLRT network, which helped unify bioeconomy actions across Europe.
While the active phase of the project has now concluded, its outcomes remain fully accessible. All project findings, tools, and training materials are permanently archived on the BBioNets platform, EU-FarmBook, Zenodo, and the EU CAP Network.
The BBioNets consortium extends its sincere gratitude to all network members, regional actors, and European partners whose dedication ensured the success of this three-year effort. Stakeholders across Europe are encouraged to continue utilising these open-access tools to drive circular bioeconomy solutions forward in their local communities.
