SWG SCAR AKIS Meeting

SWG SCAR AKIS

15th-16th January 2025

BBioNets is kicking off the new year strongly, showcasing its innovative strategies on a prominent stage.

The BBioNets project recently had the privilege of being presented during the second day of the SWG SCAR AKIS 6th Mandate – 08th Meeting. The meeting focused on the crucial topic of “effective dissemination of knowledge and innovations from Horizon projects and EIP-AGRI Operational Groups among practitioners.” This platform provided an excellent opportunity for BBioNets to share its strategic approach to dissemination, highlighting key lessons and methodologies developed during the project’s implementation thus far.

The event began with introductions to key dissemination platforms, including the EU CAP Network, CORDIS, and EU-FarmBook, all of which were showcased as exemplary tools for spreading project outputs. Against this backdrop, BBioNets’ coordinator, Ms Carmen Girón Domínguez, outlined the project’s innovative strategies, emphasising three core principles: not to be alone, knowing what to disseminate, and disseminating wisely.

1. Not to Be Alone

Collaboration lies at the heart of BBioNets’ approach. To achieve this, the project has:

  • Established Forest and Agriculture Networks (FANs), with 50% of members comprising primary producers and advisors. This ensures that practical, on-the-ground insights shape the dissemination process.
  • Organised Cross-Fertilisation Meetings to foster the exchange of needs, opportunities, and knowledge across different regions.
  • Developed synergies with carefully selected projects, associations, and platforms that align with BBioNets’ thematic focus and timelines.

2. Knowing What to Disseminate

BBioNets emphasises the importance of tailoring its dissemination efforts to regional needs and available resources. This involves:

  • Conducting thorough studies of regional requirements and identifying biomasses that can be transformed into valuable products and solutions.
  • Hosting a series of workshops to gather and analyse these needs, ensuring that dissemination efforts are focused on bio-based technologies that hold the greatest relevance and potential impact for each region.

3. Disseminating Wisely

A multi-platform strategy underpins BBioNets’ dissemination efforts. Key components include:

  • A user-friendly project website designed to provide region-specific materials, ensuring easy access to information for stakeholders in each area.
  • Sharing project outcomes through diverse channels, including the project’s knowledge platform, EU-FARMBOOK, EU CAP Network, and Zenodo. By doing so, BBioNets maximises its audience reach, extending beyond the EIP-AGRI Operational Groups to other relevant stakeholders.

The BBioNets project’s participation in the SCAR AKIS event highlighted three indispensable lessons for effective dissemination:

  1. Collaboration is crucial – Partnering with networks, projects, and platforms amplifies impact.
  2. Targeted dissemination – Understanding regional needs ensures that efforts are both meaningful and effective.
  3. Multi-platform engagement – Leveraging various channels broadens the audience and enhances knowledge sharing.

By presenting at the SCAR AKIS event, BBioNets not only demonstrated its innovative approach to knowledge dissemination but also set a strong example for other similar initiatives. Through its commitment to collaboration, strategic focus, and thoughtful use of dissemination platforms, BBioNets continues to play a pivotal role in advancing bio-based innovations across Europe.
