7th November 2024
In the wake of the 8th Mediterranean Forest Week (MFW) in Barcelona, BBioNets participated in a private meeting organised by the European Forest Institute (EFI) on 7th November 2024, aimed at encouraging partnerships and fostering synergies among projects delving into the bioeconomy and related fields.
The meeting provided a collaborative space for project leaders to identify overlapping objectives and find opportunities to support each other’s work. Eleven prominent projects were represented in the session, namely AF4EU, BBioNets, EUFORE, FOREST4EU, ResAlliance, RESONATE, SMURF, SUS-SOIL, Transformed, Transition, and widlE, each bringing their unique perspectives and expertise to the table. These projects span across the forestry, agroforestry and agriculture sectors, covering bioeconomy and environmental focus areas, from forest ecosystem restoration, bio-based technologies and sustainable soil management to biodiversity conservation and resilient agriculture. Together, they embody a cross-disciplinary approach to tackling the complex challenges of environmental sustainability and economic development in Europe.
Having established meaningful connections, participants committed to continue collaboration beyond this initial gathering. By fostering these relationships, the aim is to strengthen Europe’s environmental and bioeconomy sectors, ensuring that efforts are aligned and projects can better respond to emerging environmental and socio-economic challenges.
