Abstract

BBioNets’ Bio-Based Technology (BBT) Inventory contains numerous technologies, varying in scope and techniques employed. The project’s BBTs Assessment Tool can evaluate them collectively, while also offering further insights, on a technical level, if adapted to specific subsets of technologies. This article proposes an additional layer of evaluation parameters, to be paired with the BBTs Assessment Tool, in the study of BBTs that focus on the employment and production of biochar. The two instruments are used on a sample of twenty BBTs to produce specific recommendations for biochar production in BBioNets’ Italian Forest and Agriculture Network (FAN) context.
